Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed The members of the band performed session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group The group held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with the band.
